Summary

I currently lead a team of seven developers and two QA engineers at CPI, and I stay hands-on in design and delivery. I also decide how the team uses AI: which tools we use, the guardrails around them, and how our development and QA workflows change as a result.

Most of my work is in C#, ASP.NET Core, REST and SOAP APIs, and SQL. I also have working knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js and AWS.

    Software Engineering Manager

    CPI Group UK Ltd, Chippenham

    • Currently lead a team of 7 developers and 2 QA engineers delivering software for print and manufacturing operations. I hired several of the team.
    • Led GitHub Copilot adoption to 100% of the team, and set guardrails for responsible AI use: review expectations, data handling and IP.
    • Reworked development and QA workflows around AI assistance. Pull request throughput roughly doubled against the previous month.
    • Scope work with the PMO, from single-line changes to full system designs, and stay hands-on through delivery.
    • Coach engineers on AI fluency, coding standards and our git branching strategy.

    • Rejoined CPI to lead large, complex projects for internal and external clients.
    • Coached junior developers and helped write the team's coding standards and git branching strategy.
    • Promoted to Software Engineering Manager in May 2025.

    Enterprise Application Developer

    Herman Miller (MillerKnoll), Melksham

    • Delivered projects, enhancements and critical fixes with an international development team.
    • Built integrations between third-party software and a central ERP system, including an EDI process.
    • Modernised legacy codebases and moved them onto newer frameworks.

    • Built a cross-platform Shop Floor Data Capture console app, designed to run across different factory systems and now in use at UK sites. It made data capture faster and more accurate, with built-in redundancy for availability.
    • Scrum Master for 12 months during the team's Agile transition. I ran all the ceremonies and worked with product owners across multiple sites.
    • Refactored legacy systems for robustness and performance, which streamlined factory processes.

    • Developed in-house software, and fixed critical bugs and deployed to field systems.
    • Built a monitoring tool so critical process failures were reported and fixed quickly.
    • Handled requirements gathering, client support and GDPR compliance analysis.
